Services

How it works...

Adolescent & Child Therapy (5-25 yrs)

Personalised Treatment Plans- short-time limited or long term

Tailored therapy sessions to address specific needs, by providing a safe and supported space for personal growth and emotional well-being. Often using creative processes such as symbols and imagery to access deeper layers of emotional and attachment experience. Allowing unconscious behaviour and thinking patterns to be managed more effectively, leading to positive change in functioning on all levels.

Family Psychotherapy

Strengthening Family Bonds- usually 4-12 sessions

Supportive psychodynamic and systemic psychotherapy sessions to enhance communication, resolve conflicts, and foster stronger family relationships. This can involve parent/carer work or child and carer work. The therapist helps the family notice patterns, such as communication styles, roles, or repeated negative patterning and supports them in understanding why this might be happening.

Whole Family Support

Healing Through Communication- usually 6-8 sessions

Whole family support using solution focused parental models as well as Non-Violent Response (NVR) techniques, with practical interventions and parenting ideas, de-escalation strategies and boundary setting. With referral pathways and workable action plans to ensure the whole family system runs smoothly, leading to healthier communication and relationships.

FAQs

Common Questions and for more info, please read my blog...

Is psychotherapy suitable for children?

Yes, there is plenty of evidence which supports psychotherapy as being highly beneficial for children dealing with emotional challenges. Weisz et al. (1987) carried out the first major review, which showed that children who received therapy did significantly better than those who didn’t. Therapists like The Dynamic Family Therapist use specialised techniques to help children express themselves and develop more effective coping skills.

What is the duration of therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions typically last around 45-60 minutes, but the duration can vary based on the specific needs and progress of the client. An initial consultation will be necessary which lasts 30 minutes and is free. This is to discuss the reasons for seeking therapy and to establish if psychotherapy is suitable. Personalised payment plans are available and online and weekend sessions can also be arranged. With the understanding that flexibility is needed around busy schedules.

What can I expect from psychotherapy?

After the initial consultation, Adele will get to know you or your child, and establish goals for the therapeutic journey. Psychotherapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences, by making sense of challenges, building emotional resilience, and support healthier ways of coping and relating. Psychotherapy is not about quick fixes, but about creating space to be heard and understood. Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, it allows meaningful change to emerge over time, supporting long-term emotional growth, self confidence and well-being.
